Nonferrous metals. Aluminum is the only nonferrous metal that can be economically recovered from municipal solid waste. It usually represents less than 1 per cent by weight of the typical municipal solid waste stream. Other nonferrous metals, such as lead and copper, are usually recycled by industries producing these materials.
